Volunteer Opportunities for High School Students

For high school students, volunteer work of any kind is a laudable pursuit, possessing more than enough intrinsic value to make it worth your time. Yet, dedicating your time to charitable endeavor can also help you to gain real-world experience in an area of academic and/or career interest. Perhaps you have an academic/career interest in healthcare, computer science, education, helping people with disabilities, animal rights, community organizing, assisting developing nations, conservationism, politics, history, or eldercare support. No matter your passion, there is likely a perfect volunteering opportunity out there for you—there’s just that tiny matter of finding it.

COVID - 19 Updates

As of now, Bright Futures has not changed their volunteer hours requirements for our seniors, so they should expect to have 75 or 100 volunteer hours on record with school prior to graduation (if they are expecting to earn Bright Futures Scholarship awards).

Here are some suggestions and guidelines for student wanting to earn community service hours:
  • Help a sibling with their school work
  • Sew masks
  • Deliver food or do yard work for an elderly neighbor, etc.
  • Anything that is addressing a community need for which they are not being paid and are not risking their health.

Parents can sign off that they have completed the hours.
We have added a volunteer agreement and hours log that can be filled out and signed using Adobe Reader.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering!

On this page are all the volunteer links and forms necessary. The Youth Partnership Training video must be completed prior to volunteering. The agreement form must be completed for EACH organization you volunteer prior to any service hours.  It is suggested all hours be turned in annually but MUST be turned in before the last day of the students senior year.  Once recorded by the school, hours will accumulate from year to year and will be documented on the students transcript.
YPP Guidelines

If you volunteer for one organization regularly, we suggest turning in forms several times a year. The new year starts June 1st.
